The documents consider the roles of forests in mitigating climate change, in promoting wood as a renewable energy carrier as well as in protecting water quality and quantity.
In addition on occasion of the 5th Ministerial Conference the two Ministerial Statements are prepared:
- Ministerial Statement on Pan-European Forest Week 2008
- Ministerial Statement on Forest Fires
The foremost issues put into the frames of the Conference Documents have been elaborated during the MCPFE Drafting Meetings by delegates of the MCPFE signatories, the European Community and observer organizations and endorsed by the Expert Level Meeting held on 3-4 September 2007, in Warsaw, Poland.

Two Reports are being prepared for the Warsaw Conference in order to provide policy and decision makers with the up-to-date data on the extend of accomplishment of goals of sustainable forest management (SFM) at a national and regional level.
- State of Europe’s Forests 2007
- reflects status and trends in accordance with 6 Criteria (characterized by quantitative indicators)
- describes policies and institutions and their role in supporting SFM, (based on qualitative indicators)
- presents data for three points in time – the years: 1990, 2000, 2005 - Implementation of MCPFE Commitments: National and Pan-European Activities 2003 - 2007
- reflects implementation of commitments of the 4th MCPFE at a national level
- describes further progress in implementing commitments of previous Ministerial Conferences
- analyses implementation of the commitments with references to the MCPFE Work Programme
