Programme for accompanying persons
I. Warsaw Sightseeing City Tour - Monday, 5th November, 2007
Duration: 3.5 – 4 hours. Departure from your hotel between 9:45 and 10:15.
The tour includes visits to:
- The Old Town, placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, beautifully rebuilt from scratch after 1945.
- The Royal Castle, the residence of Polish kings in 1596 – 1795; the residence of the Polish President in 1918. In the front of the Castle there is the King Sigismund III Column – the first secular monument in Poland.
- St John’s Cathedral, a Gothic church and witness to some of the most important events in the history of Poland, with sarcophagi containing the remains of eminent Poles.
- The Old Town Market Square and Barbican.
- The Jewish Ghetto, the monument of Ghetto’s Heroes - Umschlagplatz and Mila Street, the site of bunker where the leader of the Ghetto Uprising (1943), Mordechai Anielewicz, committed a suicide.
- The Royal Route, with its superb aristocratic residences and famous monuments and the Holy Cross Church containing urns with the hearts of Fryderyk Chopin (1810-49) and Wladyslaw Reymont (1868-1925), the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1924.
- The Royal Park, the most beautiful park in Warsaw, commonly known as Lazienki, so-called “Palace on the Water”, the lavish summer residence of the last King of Poland, Stanislaw August Poniatowski (1764-95).
- Other important places of interest: the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Monument of Warsaw Uprising (1944) and the Monument to the Victims of Katyn.
- Coffee and cake in one of trendy food outlets at the Plac Trzech Krzyży (Square of 3 Crosses) - nearby Sheraton Hotel.
II. Frederic Chopin’s Warsaw Tour – Tuesday, 6th November, 2007
Duration: 3 hours. Departure from your hotel between 9:45 and 10:15.
The tour will begin with a visit to the Chopin’s Museum in the Ostrogski Palace. Then you will visit the Holy Cross Church with the urn containing the heart of Chopin. Via Royal Route you will be driven to the Royal Lazienki Park where there is a famous monument dedicated to Frederic Chopin.
At the end of the tour we will invite you for a desert and coffee to one of the most exceptional food outlets in the city located in the old Orangerie of the Lazienki Park.
